FAQ’s
Glenwood Akaroa Walkways
We invite you to wander through our private native bush tracks when staying at Glenwood. There are approximately 22 Hectares of native bushland under QEII Trust covenant, we respect the guidelines of this guardianship.
Ensure to stay on the designated walking tracks, following the signs and marker posts. We suggest taking adequate clothing and water when walking our tracks, the weather can change quickly at times (we are approximately 280 metres above sea level). Wear sensible footwear as the tracks may be slippery and/or uneven. Beware of any fallen branches and/or vines in the undergrowth.
Regenerating native forest will surround you as you walk down to the waterfall and around the 'Enchanted Forest'. Take the track up to the Lookout for fantastic views of the harbour.
Enter walkways at your own risk. We take no responsibility for any harm to yourselves or loss/damage to your own property.
A map of the Glenwood walkways will be provided to you in your hut, and the tracks are well sign-posted.
For those who want to explore further, check out Hinewai or Purple Peek Curry Track, and the area surrounding Glenwood.
FAQ's
Glenwood is strictly no smoking. There is a risk of fire, and above all else we wish to protect the native bush and wildlife inhabitants, people living in the valley and/or enjoying the surrounding area, as well as yourselves. Thank you for your consideration.
Our toilets are composting, don’t worry they don’t smell. We return to the earth what we borrowed from it and in around 6 months to 1 year can put the compost back on the land. They will also save between 30,000 to 100,000 litres of water a year making them kinder to our environment.
Wi-Fi is not available, enjoy a digital detox and relax.
We are not set up for children, enjoy a child-free break.
No pets allowed. Keep away from the possum/pest traps. We do our part to help protect the Peninsula by carrying out a trapping program on the property. Presently we are trialing traps that go off automatically emitting a loud bang before re-baiting and resetting themselves. These traps are more humane than most others.

We take many steps to be sustainable and gentler on our environment. Recycling, reducing use of plastics, ecofriendly products, and carrying out native planting programs.
Can we invite friends to join us? Sorry, our walkways are private and for paying guests only.
Farm Buildings are off-limits, however, if you would like a tour, please feel free to request this or enquire at the house.
Do not take any plants or fauna from the property. All trees are protected and NOT to be defaced or harmed. There are a few nearly eight hundred years old trees, and the remains of an original forested area around Akaroa.
